Meta Platforms has appointed Vishal Shah as the new Head of its Global Artificial Intelligence Product Organization, reinforcing the company’s commitment to embedding artificial intelligence across its family of apps, devices, and metaverse experiences.
Bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience in product development and engineering, Shah is widely recognized for his record of innovation and strategic execution. In this new capacity, he will guide Meta’s global AI product strategy under the leadership of Nat Friedman, Head of AI Product at Meta. His appointment follows a broader organizational realignment designed to accelerate AI adoption and streamline innovation following recent developments within Meta’s Superintelligence Labs division.
Previously, Shah served as Vice President of the Metaverse Division, where he led product strategy and growth for Meta’s immersive technology ecosystem. From 2018 to 2021, he was Vice President of Product at Instagram, overseeing major advancements in user engagement, creator tools, and brand experiences. Earlier, as Director of Product Management at Instagram (2015–2018), he played a pivotal role in scaling the platform’s global reach.
Before joining Meta, Shah spent nearly a decade at Turn, holding leadership roles such as Senior Director of Product Management and Director of Engineering, where he drove innovation in advertising technology and data-driven marketing solutions. His early career included positions at Accenture and Redi2 Technologies, where he developed a foundation in analytics and engineering.
Shah’s appointment underscores Meta’s long-term strategy to create an integrated AI ecosystem enhancing user experiences across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, and Meta Quest. His leadership is expected to further solidify Meta’s position as a global leader in AI-powered social and immersive technologies.
